Spring has sprung in Dallas, bringing along Daylight Savings Time and extended sunlight till 8 p.m., which means you’ve got plenty of time to squeeze in a round of golf after punching out of work at one of the best 9 hole golf courses in Dallas.

And let me tell you, it’s prime time for a leisurely 9-hole game at one of Dallas’ golf courses.

Now, finding a good 9-hole spot can be a bit tricky, but no worries because I’ve done the legwork for you. If a dedicated 9 hole course isn’t what you want, most public courses offer a 9 hole option and you can check out my top recommended courses here or my top budget courses here!

So, without further ado, let’s dive into my top picks for 9-hole golf courses around Dallas. With only a few months of prime golfing weather, there’s no time to waste on subpar courses.

Trust me, these are the ones you’ll want to check off your list. Let’s hit the links!

Let’s start off the most popular golf destination in Texas: the brand spanking new PGA Frisco 10-hole course. Yep, you heard that right, 10 holes on a 9-hole rundown – how lucky are we?

Meet “The Swing,” a lighted par 3 short course designed to cater to all ages and skill levels. Crafted by the legendary golf course architects Gil Hanse and Beau Welling, this course is a real gem.

With hole lengths ranging from 45 to 100 yards, there’s no need to lug around your entire bag, just grab a few wedges and your putter! Which could be helpful since it is walking only.

But don’t let the short distances fool you; The Swing packs both entertainment and challenge into its well-manicured fairways and tricky greens.

Speaking of conditions, you won’t find anything better than what PGA Frisco has to offer. Pristine greens, plenty of sand traps to keep you on your toes, and greens that roll true – it’s a golfer’s paradise out here.

But what really sets this course apart is the vibe that is felt throughout the complex.

Walking up to the first tee box at ”The Swing”, you are put right next to “The Ice House,” their on-course restaurant. Yep, your first shot gets an instant audience, and if you nail it, expect some cheers; mess up, and you might catch a bit of friendly trash talk.

And here’s the kicker: The Swing isn’t just a fair-weather friend. With lighting that stays on from 9 a.m. to midnight, you’ve got yourself a year-round golfing hotspot for those post-work rounds.

Sure, it might be a bit of a haul from Dallas up to Frisco, but trust me, The Swing is worth it. So, next time you’re up for a round of 9-hole golf, make the trip – you won’t regret it.

One of my personal favorites is the selection of short courses available at Watters Creek.

Watters Creek boasts a remarkable variety with its three distinct styles of courses, making it a fantastic destination for golfers of all preferences.

Among them, The Players Course stands out, offering a straightforward 9-hole par 30 layout extending just under 2000 yards, including three par 4 holes.

The Players Course provides a perfect setting for a leisurely day on the course. Remarkably, you can enjoy two rounds of 9 holes for a mere $30, making it a fantastic value.

The course itself maintains a decent condition, surpassing the standards of many other 9-hole courses I’ve played. Booking a tee time is hassle-free, ensuring convenient access whenever you’re in the mood for a round.

Ideal for honing your short game, The Players Course is undeniably one of the finest budget-friendly golfing options in Dallas.

In addition to the 9-hole course, Watters Creek offers the Futures Course, a 6-hole short course, designed for walkers only, featuring holes ranging from 40 to 90 yards and catering to all ages and skill levels.

With solid course conditions and operating hours extending until 8 p.m., the Futures Course offers greens similar to The Players Course, providing a fair challenge on certain holes.

What sets this course apart is its unlimited play option for a single fee, allowing you to indulge in multiple rounds at your leisure.

Personally, I enjoy starting with a round at The Players Course before transitioning to the Futures Course to refine my wedge game.

Lake Park 9: Executive Course

If you’re looking for a chill spot to tee off, check out Lake Park Golf Club nestled right by Lake Lewisville. They’ve got two great options for beginners: a championship course and a sweet 9-hole executive layout.

The 9-hole executive course is a straight-forward 1,724 yards with a par of 29. Trust me, it’s not gonna stress you out too much; it’s all about having a good time. Perfect for newbies, but even seasoned pros can enjoy a laid-back round here.

The executive course also offers post-sunset rounds, due to it having several lights posted throughout the course! So, whether you’re feeling a sunny day or a moonlit night, you can swing those clubs year-round.

Now, I gotta be real with you – the course conditions might vary a bit. It is about more of what you would expect from a 9-hole setup. They also have limited carts to take, so if you hit a busy time, chances are you might be waiting for a golf cart to come around or you may have to walk it.

But don’t let that stop you from having a blast out there!

If you’re hanging out by Lake Lewisville or planning a day on the water, why not squeeze in a round at this laid-back executive course? It’s the perfect way to soak up some sun, enjoy the views, and maybe even sink a few putts along the way.

Texas 9

There are only a handful of 9-hole courses scattered around Dallas, and I’ve played most of them, and there are a few I haven’t personally played yet, so I can’t offer a solid review.

However, there’s one 9-hole golf course over in Fort Worth (I know, it’s a bit outside the Dallas area) that I think offers the best bang for your buck when it comes to green fees.

Formerly known as the Texas Golf Center, the newly revamped Texas 9 golf course underwent some serious upgrades after changing management in 2023, and let me tell you, it’s worth checking out.

What sets Texas 9 apart is that it’s a fully self-contained 9-hole course, complete with a driving range, putting green, and clubhouse – no connections to a traditional 18-hole setup here.

Before the makeover, it was just your average 9-hole track with conditions that were hit or miss, but the new management came in with fresh ideas and boy, are they delivering.

They’ve spruced up the clubhouse, turning it into a lively spot to kick back after your round, and as for the course itself? It’s in the best shape I’ve ever seen it.

You’ll find plenty of greenside bunkers to keep you on your toes, and don’t miss hole #6 – it’s got an island green that’s sure to add a dash of excitement to your game!

Check out these top-notch 9-hole golf courses in Dallas (plus one in Fort Worth) that you absolutely need to experience! With minimal fees and the ability to complete a full round in under 2 hours, they’re ideal for those after-work tee times.

If there’s a 9-hole course you’ve tried and loved, or if you’ve got any recommendations for me to explore, don’t hesitate to drop me a message!
