The Best Cheap Golf Courses in Dallas

Spring is here and that means it is time to book your next tee time! Maybe you are booking last minute or need a budget course. Below, I go through some of the best cheap golf courses in Dallas!
I highly recommend you checkout my “top public golf courses in Dallas” article. I go in depth on some of the best courses you can play in Dallas. These are courses that I have played multiple times and I guarantee you’ll have a great time on them.
I get it, a round of golf can be expensive, it can also be difficult to find a course to play. This is no different for golf courses in Dallas.
Plenty of times, I have tried to book a tee time and find out the courses I want to play are booked. Sometimes I just don’t feel like paying $80+ on a green fee, range balls, drinks, and let’s be honest, a sleeve or two of balls.
After living in Dallas for a couple of years, I have found a few go-to golf courses that I can play in a pinch that are “cheap” (green fee under $50) or always have a tee time available.
Disclaimer: When I say a cheap course, I am speaking about the green fee being under $50.
The courses may not be in the best shape or provide a pure round. Balls seemingly hit straight might go missing and putts may bounce around a bit.
I will not suggest a course that I have not played and would not tell a friend to play. But if you want a quick and budget-friendly round, check out the courses below!
1. Duck Creek Golf Club
Location: 2800 Diamond Oaks Dr, Garland, TX
Weekend green fee: $25-$50
Brief summary: An 18 hole, par 71 and coming in at just over 6500 yards from the tips, Duck Creek is a great value course for players of all skill levels. Mature trees line the fairways and duck creek snakes its way throughout the course providing challenging shots.
Personal Opinion: The OG for me. This was maybe the first course I played in Dallas. The course is in decent shape for a value course and usually is in the same shape year round, so it is consistent.
Duck creek is fairly easy, especially if you keep the ball in play. Most par 5s can be reached in two, and several holes you can cut the corner as well.
Lookout for hole #3 which makes you hit a lay up tee shot, and to me is the hardest hole.
Hole #18 is a fun one, a dogleg left that almost wraps around for 180° turn. If you can drive it 270 yards, you can cut the corner and hit the green off your drive.
2. Firewheel Golf Park
Location: 600 W Campbell Rd Garland, TX
Weekend green fee: $25-$55
Brief summary: Firewheel Golf Park is the largest complex of golf courses in Texas. Made up of 63 holes and 3 courses it’s hard not to play at this golf destination.
Firewheel started with the “Old Course” and the ‘Lake Course”.
The success of these courses led to the construction of “The Bridges”, featuring 27 holes.
Old Course: The Old Course plays to a par of 71 with a length of 6845 yards from the tips. Possibly the most popular of the 3 courses, Old Course consists of gently rolling terrain with slow moving streams winding throughout the course.
Strategically placed bunkers and heavily wooded areas makes this course a challenge for all golfers
Lake Course: The most scenic but also the most challenging course at Firewheel, stretching 7134 yards from the back tees and 6141 yards from the front, with a par of 72.
Bridges Course: The crown jewel of Firewheel, the Bridges is a 27 hole course. This course is usually closer to $60 unless you start after 5pm. So I won’t talk much about this one.
Personal opinion: Firewheel Golf Park is known by every golfer in Dallas, and I’m willing to bet, most have played the Old course or the Lakes course.
The old course is definitely easier than the lakes course. The old course is mostly flat with straight away holes. The lakes course, as you might expect, is surrounded by water on nearly every hole. Not to mention several dogleg holes.
If you want a nice round play the old course. If you want to be challenged opt for the lakes course.
3. Players Course at Watters Creek
Location: 7201 Chase Oaks Blvd, Plano, TX
Weekend green fee: $30
Brief summary: The Courses at Watters Creek is another golf complex similar to Firewheel. They offer 33 holes across 3 different courses. For this article,I am going to cover the 9 hole course.
The Players Course at Watters Creek features a basic 9 hole par 30 course. It reaches just under 2000 yards from the tips and features three par 4 holes. The green fee is for 2 trips around the course for a total of 18 holes.
Personal opinion: The Courses at Watters Creek is a phenomenal place to play with 3 entirely different style of courses, that I cover here.
The 9 hole Players course is a great way to spend a relaxing day on the course. As stated above, you can the 9 holes twice for $30 total and that is hard to beat!
The course itself is in decent condition. For a 9 hole, it is in better condition than most I have played. Booking a tee time is very easy, so when in doubt you always have this course to play on.
The Players course is a great way to work on your short game and definitely one of the best cheap golf courses in Dallas.
4. Irving Golf Club
Location: 2000 E Shady Grove Rd, Irving, TX
Weekend green fee: $33-$53
Brief summary: With a backdrop of the downtown Dallas skyline, Irving Golf Club presents a scenic and welcoming municipal course, featuring a mostly open, links-style design complemented by traditional-style holes along the Trinity River on the back nine.
Recently renovated, this par 71 public course comes in at 6600 yards from the tips, and caters to golfers of varying skill levels.
Personal opinion: Irving golf club might be the best all-around value course. You even get some great views of Downtown Dallas.
The driving range is grass and the practice greens are in great shape.
The course itself is difficult due to some strategically placed bunkers and elevation changes. But overall, due to the link-style design, it is fairly wide open off the tee. Look out for hole #2, a par 4 at over 450 yards.
I will also add, this course is slightly more difficult to book a tee time at due to its popularity!
5. Luna Vista Golf Course
Location: 11223 Luna Rd, Dallas, TX
Weekend green fee: $36-$53
Brief summary: An 18 hole, par 72 and coming in at just over 6800 yards from the tips. As you make your way around the course, you’ll find yourself surrounded by wide fairways bordered by mature trees and bunkers strategically placed to really test your accuracy and game strategy.
Plenty of water hazards coming into play on a few holes. And big greens to make a well-executed shot feel extra satisfying.
Personal opinion: Luna Vista is a fine course. Where I think it shines, is in its practice facilities. They offer a grass driving range which is especially hard to find at value courses.
The course itself is challenging because it is long, but not terribly difficult, as most holes are straight. There is a lot of water, so keep it straight and you will be good.
The greens are surprisingly some of the best I have seen at a value course. They roll mostly true.
A downside is the ongoing construction getting into the course and a nearby gun range. If you prefer a quiet golf experience, this may not be the best course for you.
6. Keeton Park Golf Course
Location: 2323 N Jim Miller Rd, Dallas, TX
Weekend green fee: $30-$50
Brief Summary: A par 72 course coming in at just over 6750 yards from the tips, Keeton Park is a solid value course. Known for its award-winning oversized grass driving range, Keeton Park offers a picturesque secluded setting and a progressive atmosphere distinct to the sport.
Personal Opinion: Where Keeton park shines, is with their amenities. They have a massive grass driving range in solid condition and their clubhouse isn’t like any other you will find in Dallas.
The clubhouse is, at risk of aging myself, very hip. They have a ton of branded swag and a great clearance rack to buy some new shoes at.
The best part? They offer the Finn Scooters, an electric bike with a spot for your golf bag. This makes your round so much fun.
As for the course, it is fairly straight forward and wide open. There is plenty of water to make the course a little more challenging!
These are excellent cheap golf courses to have in your back pocket while golfing around in Dallas. Like I said, they may not offer the most pristine conditions but they are great for the value!
Have a fun round!
