From the stunning Ozark Mountains to the charming downtown squares, if its your first time or you have been here before, you are sure to find some fun things to do while on your visit.

Speaking from experience, and I may be just a little biased, Northwest Arkansas is one of the best regions in America. You get to see each season in its entirety, fall is the prettiest with all the colors strewn across the horizon. Despite its rapid growth, NWA still maintains its cozy, undiscovered gem feel, making it an inviting destination for all.

Dining Experiences

Table at Hickory Inn: Tucked away in the woodlands of north Bentonville this spot has been serving up classic steaks for over 52 years. Formerly Fred’s Hickory Inn, Table at the Hickory Inn blends the cozy nostalgia of a ’70s smoke and steakhouse with fresh, elevated flavors and modern decor.

Their menu offers a variety of delicious options, from pasta and fish to salads and soups.

Bentonville’s Market District: If it is a nice day, spend some time at the 8th Street Market, where food, community, and creativity come together in the heart of downtown Bentonville.

This vibrant hub is all about supporting local farmers and entrepreneurs while bringing people closer over delicious eats and drinks.

Tusk & Trotter: Just a short step away from The Bentonville Square and 8th street market is Tusk & Trotter. This restaurant offers locally sourced cuisine and creative cocktails in a relaxed atmosphere.

Their menu highlights Ozarks flavors with seasonal, locally grown ingredients, including signature dishes like the smoked pork chop and the Tusk burger, a must have!

Hugo’s: A beloved spot in Fayetteville, Hugo’s has been serving patrons since 1977. Situated in the basement at 25 1/2 N Block Ave near the Historic Fayetteville Square, the menu has remained unchanged.

Known for their burgers and a diverse selection of appetizers, entrees, and desserts, including the famous homemade French fries and beer cheese soup. The full bar offers rotating seasonal and craft beer selections, with a tap dedicated to local brews, and an impressive collection of whiskey, scotch, and bourbon.

Hugo’s is a tough place to get in at on the weekends because it is closed on Sunday. Mid week visits are your friend!

Wrights BBQ: There are plenty of BBQ spots in NWA to try out but my personal favorite is Wrights BBQ. They started as a food truck and now have multiple locations. The OG spot is in Johnson and is definitely worth a visit.

They use pecan wood sourced from downed central Arkansas trees, and smoke their meat over a wood fire pit. You can’t go wrong with any of their choices, but give the brisket a try!

Just a few minutes South of Fayetteville, Devil’s Den has miles of trails lined with forests, ridges, and rock formations, it’s ideal for hiking, camping, and outdoor fun.

Be sure to check out Devil’s Den cave on a hot day, it is usually quite a bit cooler than the outside temperature, but don’t forget your flashlight!

Hawksbill Crag: A little further drive away is Hawksbill Crag, also known as Whitaker Point, is located within the Ozark National Forest.

This trail is around 3 miles and features a dramatic rocky outcrop that extends over the edge of a bluff, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding wilderness. Hawksbill Crag is possibly the most photographed spot in Northwest Arkansas.

Sports and Recreation

Watch a game at the University of Arkansas: If you happen to make a trip to NWA during the fall or spring you must try to watch a game at Razorback Football Stadium, Baum-Walker Stadium, or Bud Walton Arena. The stadiums are second to none!

Embrace all the sights and sounds of what it means to be a Razorback and join in on the “Woo Pig Sooie” calls!

Tour the University of Arkansas: Fayetteville is a college town and if you’re visiting during a holiday or summer, chances are the campus will be slow. However, if you get the chance, take a stroll through campus!

It’s a smaller campus so you can be done in as little as 20 minutes. While you are exploring take a look at some long standing structures such as the iconic Old Main with its clock towers, the outdoor Greek ampitheater, and take a walk along the senior walk (names of all graduates at the U of A) spread throughout campus.
